The Networked Media Tank (NMT) is an all-in-one network media device. It is a combination of a Digital Media Player (DMP), a Network Attached Storage (NAS) device, and a Media Server. All these features are built into a single fully integrated hardware package that will allow you to view, share, and store your digital media with unrivaled ease.
NMTs allow you to pull in digital video, audio, and photos from various sources for your enjoyment on your HDTV or Home Theater setup. You can stream or playback your digital media content from a variety of devices, such as your PC, NAS (network-attached storage), digital camera, USB mass storage devices (such as a thumb drive, HDD, DVD drive), internal hard drive, and even directly from the Internet via the Media Service Portal.
Unprecedented compatibility with all the most popular audio and video formats makes the NMT extremely appealing. AVI, MOV, MKV, MPG, WMV… it can play it! Another excellent feature is the ability to watch “ripped” DVDs with full menu support. This is a real money saver. No more unusable, scratched DVDS. Store all your DVDs on your NMT and watch them at your convenience.
A NMT is equipped with a download engine. This will allow it to function as a peer-to-peer BitTorrent downloader. It can even download from Usenet newsgroups, Rapidshare, and other file-sharing sources. This eliminates the need to switch on a PC or other device for this purpose.
As part of the premium online services provided by Syabas, the Networked Media Tank can connect to the Media Service Portal (MSP). The MSP is an on-line media portal hosted by Syabas that allows users to choose and view a large variety of on-line news, radio, RSS, video, weather forecasts, and many other web services. The portal links to YouTube, Google Video, and Yahoo Video as well, allowing the user to search and watch videos from the most popular on-line video sources. A good way to share photos with friends and family through the Internet is via Flicker Photos, and the NMT allows the user to present their photos with background music to accompany the slide-show in the comfort of the user’s living room. All these features of the NMT combine to take it above and beyond the standard media player and into a league of its own.
